Trains and better public transportation

It's no joke that the United States is the land of the car. Yet consistently 'better transportation' is the most popular topic that has been reoccurring on Imagine Central Arkansas and with people I've talked to. Create an outdoor pedestrian shopping street

I think it's time that Little Rock creates a 'core' retail high street. I'd like to see E Markham St between Main St and the Interstate closed to vehicular traffic (except the street car). This could do wonders for downtown commerce. Instead of cars and traffic lights, pave the street from store front to store front, and allow street artists, alfresco cafes, fountains, etc to populate the middle of it. It would add ...more »
